Merlot runs the rows of a vineyard clear across a summer hillside. A red dirt road curves up from the foreground toward the striped fields, where a small red-roofed winery sits nestled among the vines, and dark stands of trees give way to gold fields and blue hills beyond.

It has the feel of Oregon wine country at its fullest — that particular Willamette light on ripening fruit, the promise of the season built right into the ground. You can almost taste the summer in it. Somewhere you'd want to linger.
